Letter from the President

Welcome to the Conway, Arkansas web site. We sincerely hope that the information from our web page will help you know more about our great city.

Conway is in the central area of our state. Located on I-40, US 64 and US 65 Highways, Conway is only 31 miles Northwest of Little Rock, Arkansas' State Capitol. Toad Suck Lock and Dam on the Arkansas River with river navigation only two mile from the western city limits.

Conway is an educational center. We have three institutions of higher education. A total of 10,300 students attend the University of Central Arkansas, Hendrix Collge and Central Baptist College. Our public and private schools provide excellent educational opportunities. More than 87 local churches help provide for strong spiritual life in Conway.

With a very strong economy, Conway's 68 industries provide our 7,300 manufacturing jobs. During the past decade, Conway has continued to be one of the highest growth cities in the state with 34% growth rate. The current estimated population is 41,000. Conway has been named one of the 12 volunteer communities in the state six out of the past seven years.

We hope that you will plan to spend some time with us. Enjoy fishing at Lake Conway or Lake Beaverfork; take in some college sports, Toad Suck Daze festival, Arkansas High School Rodeo finals, musical shows or plays, a college lecture series, the summer softball program or the enjoyment of the Conway Civic Orchestra.
